Marla took this pic of M and A. I think it is too cute!]Not much new here in the big city life. Enjoying the rest of the summer and enjoying the cool nights and loud locusts and crickets at night! Work is going well, not too much new there. We are all doing well with nothing much to update on. I haven't posted in so long I thought I had better post something.
Alex stories<><><><><><><><><>
The talking back has begun. And way before I was expecting it, and in a way I was not expecting it to happen...Whenever T and I say something sternly or in a voice other than the one we typically use she will look down, stick out her bottom lip, make her chin to quiver, and say, "Don't talk like that to me, mama" or "that hurts me, mama, don't say that to me" in a very sad, hurt little voice. Sometimes she can squeeze tears out or sometimes she does without. She has also just begun to say "I AMMMM" if I tell her something she is already doing or in the process of doing, i.e. I say, "finish your dinner" and she says, "I AMMMM!" and the list goes on with that one---I thought that didn't come until they were around pre-teens!! And now when we catch her out of bed at night and we go in to her room she'll make up an excuse as to why she was out of bed, excuses like, "my feet are cold, mama" or "my knees hurt". When I check on her after she is asleep I will find her in a completely different getup than the one I put her in hours before and in the morning there is always a very interesting reason she gives me for outfit change! She seems to be getting a bit wilder. Sometimes she goes from thing to thing to thing I think I may lose my mind sometimes. She pressess my buttons well at times, but it is usually only when she's bored. Oh, and yesterday she told me I was old...but not Grandpa or daddy--they are "young" like her. Nice.

HA! Good stories. She's already sounding very independent-minded! It seems like she's got quite a big personality despite being such a small person. That is a great picture and it goes with your stories perfectly : ) I love and miss the sound of locusts...sigh.
I can't imagine not hearing locusts. It is like my necessary noise in life...the changing of seasons would not be the same without it! But i'm sure colorado has an insane amount of things that outweigh that ONE tiny con! ha! A is quite the personality! I do love it!
I love you.
I love you, too, maizie! thank you for posting! i miss you so much! you've made my day! hope to visit soon!
That's hilarious, it's all down hill from here right? I love that she changes her clothes, that is so cute! My niece who is the same age will stack up a bunch of books underneath her window and stand at the window looking outside all night. My sister will hear her walking around and singing and will walk in to see her at the window in her pj's or trying to stack things up to stand on as high as possible. They must feel a huge sense of freedom since they have their "big girl beds".
Awwww, I miss you guys! I love to hear Alex stories. I'm glad everyone is doing well. Sometimes I feel like Mackenzie gives me attitude, is that possible for an 11 month old? I will tell her to come here so I can change her diaper/get her dressed and she will look at me and then walk away. Um, thanks little one. I can't imagine what it will be like when the words start to come. Have you noticed there is a point in the day, usually early evening, when you find yourself counting down the minutes until Tim gets home? I'm like that with Nathan, I need a break from the babe and she needs a break from me. Last week it was getting to be that time and Mackenzie continued to try to pull a cord out of the wall when I told her "NO" in a stern voice, well you would've thought I had just killed her best friend. She threw herself onto the floor, buried her head in the carpet and started crying. Ahh, motherhood! Thanks for posting, I need to do the same.
