Last night, while mowing my new challenging lawn that provides me with many hills, slants, and tall tall weeds and few blades of grass I came face to face with the innocent victims of the MOWER and, therefore, myself.

I've honestly never seen anything like it. Bugs jumping and flying for their lives. At first I was going slow to allow the grasshoppers time to escape the path of the mower...or I would swerve and then once it escaped I would swerve back to get the blades I missed. Unfortunately, it is a rather big yard and there were a zillion grasshoppers and other uniquely strange and pretty bugs. So eventually I just mowed...looking straight ahead and not focusing on the path of destruction below....I actually contemplated sparing a LARGE spider, then thought better of it as it hauled ass towards my house. Anyway, long story short, a simple household chore turned in to a battle of internal emotions for myself and I have blood on my hands...those poor poor bugs....I guess that's what happens when you live so close to the woods. Luckily I did not run into our snake...I will post pics of OUR snake soon.

Train them young

It wasn't until recently that I realized that I am raising Alex to be a girly girl. I never encourage playing with cars or trucks or boy toys and the like. I put lipstick on her when I am putting some on, I talk about pretty clothes and beautiful shoes when we go shopping, adore fine jewelry, comb our hair together, and put on my high heel shoes. We do not go down tool isles, we don't play with toy guns or slingshots, and we don't laugh at her toots (like men and boys enjoy doing)...well, ok, sometimse she laughs at hers. She has recently become interested in baby dolls--baby dolls and poop but that is neither here nor there.

Her grandma got her a new baby stroller for her baby and she is hooked. She often loads it up with her baby and other toys and runs around the house until she runs out of energy. I am grateful for her new found love of dolls and strollers.

Lately, I wonder though, would I allow this with a boy baby? Would I ever buy HIM a stroller for a doll? Would he ever have a doll? If someone bought him a doll would I encourage him to play with it or hide it? It is just really interesting to me how we really do mold and train the babes to be the way they are (within reason, obviously she has her own personality and is drawn to things we don't necessarly encourage or introduce to her---like poop for example. I have not encourage her search for it all over our house, in our toilets, and in her diaper bin, nor her sadness when we flush hers down the toilet. I guess, however, that is a natural part for all toddlers. Anyway, just some thoughts to think about.

I have tried uploading more photos for more random thoughts but blogger is having issues right now. So, I'll save them for next time.

We are off to the lake this weekend! The Glorious Rough River! I can not wait! Al is staying with her grandparents and I will be free to sleep in, ski, tube, swim, read, pee alone, and do whatever I please. Whoo hoooo!

hang in there

I know you all are dying for an update of my exciting life...however, things have been busy lately and I haven't had the chance to put my pics on my computer yet. hang in there. I will post a long one soon! What a relief, I'm sure!

Sorry, friends

I'm sorry for not posting sooner. I know you all are totally dying without a new update in the day in the life of...However, I promise to post a fun post soon. I had a great time in the Fort recently. I got to see all of my family and some old friends I hadn't seen in awhile. I had a lot of unexpected fun, not that Fort Wayne isn't ALWAYS incredibly wild and crazy fun, but this time was even better!

Well, it is entirely too late and my bed is screaming to me--The bed that is awaiting new pillows with the new fabric I ordered today.

Just to tide you over I thought I'd post a nice and blurry pic my sister took at the BEGINNING (hence the reason for smiles) of my LONG trip back to GUILFORD with the bean, the nephew, and myself in the SMALL truck! We really were riding hillbilly style. It was AWFUL! I did make it home with Daniel only asking me about nine or ten times how much longer---it is only a 3.5 hour drive. Felt like 23.5 hours. (I'm thinking Daniel will hate me later for me posting this pic. It is not flattering for any of us, but unfortunately it really does not highlight Daniel's handsomeness. Sorry, Daniel)

I PASSED!

I officially passed my NCLEX! Whoo hoooooo! No more studying for it EVER! What a great feeling! I know I will have to be studying for work but that's a little different! I am so excited! I had a feeling I passed but to see the actual "pass" under my name was great! It's funny, just a little over a year ago the WORD blood made my feet and butt hurt and I would nearly pass out...now I say it all the time along with many other blood type words and procedures! Just goes to show what mind over matter can do for you! Now, if someone would just surprise me with paying off my loans....hee hee!

Lazy Girls' Weekend

Kelly, Alex, and myself spent the weekend not doing a whole lot of anything...other than watching TV, playing with the babe, one outing to Target, site seeing beautiful Guilford, and eating...as well as some more eating.
This afternoon Alex and I played with her baby pool between rain storms. Good times.

Alex is really really getting into looking at all my family's blogs. She is always pointing to the lap top and saying, "Babies!". She really enjoys Aunt Marla's and Maizie's blog as well as mine because she can see a zillion pics of herself!

Well, that's all. Waiting for Tim to return from Guys' weekend at the lake. He was supposed to be home early. I guess early means around the "sleepy time" hour :)

Weeeeeee!

Tim and I found a state park about 20 miles from our house. It is really awesome. It has a 7 and a 2 mile bike/run/whatever trail, horse trails, horse parking, a splash park for the kiddies, playground areas, fishing, paddle boats, canoes, etc. It is really cool. We went to take advantage of the bike trail but will definately be going back to check out the splash area and the other fun spots!

THE TEST!

I must thank everyone for their prayers! I took my boards yesterday morning. I must say I have never been so nervous in my life. After considering the level of nervousness with my friend Lesley from nursing school, I decided it was worse than labor nervous and worse than walking down the isle nervous! But once I got in there, gave them my photo, my fingerprints, and read all the rules and regs I settled down. I can honestly say I didn't get one question where I thought, "Oh, shit, what the hell are they talking about?!" I'm not saying there weren't some that I had no clue what the correct answer was, but overall, I felt that it wasn't too horrible! Of course I won't know if I passed for a week or so, but will keep you all posted. It feels amazing to not have to study!
I'll post a weekend update soon. my friend kelly is here and we are being total lazy bums! it is awesome! i love it!

Larry King is having Michael Moore and Dr. Sanjay Gupta on tonight to discuss healthcare in the US. It will be interesting so I hope you all get to watch it! it's on at 9pm.

Helmet fun, a New tiny counter and bed for Cooper

Here is the bed I finished for Cooper tonight! It looks very professional I might add...Cheaper than the ones and target and way more stylish.



THe pattern is bit feminine but I really liked it a whole bunch! It has some colors from my living room and some that match my bedroom as well so it seemed versatile...sorta.

I thought the bone was a nice touch since Cooper likes bones. And notice the contrasting bottom...The bed is filled with Hill-Rom bed foam and poly fill from Jo-Ann's--What a treat!

Here is alexandra enjoying it before it was finished. Note her pink pillow that I made her in the background. I forsee her taking over Coops bed and leaving behind her special pillow...hmmmm....

Here's Al playing with her work boots...she could spend hours playing with these dirty things! She loves them and is always bringing them to me letting me know she wants out of the house!

Alex wanted to try her helmet on Cooper. I think he needs something a little more manly. He really enjoyed this.

We spent a pretty quiet weekend in Guilford making it into town once for groceries and Home Depot and Jo-Ann's. I managed to take my time at Jo-Ann's and bought 200 dollars worth of groceries in the time it took Tim at Home Depot! Hee hee! Men and their tool stores! We also tried to check out a church festival in Lawrenceburg...We were one of four people attending...seriously. It was too hot. I bet it got hopp'n that night, though. We were going to go back for gambling and drinking but remembered we had a babe and would be spending the evening in wathcing Reno 911 the Movie.

We did purchase a garage door opener which is very exciting. We will soon get to park in the garage, as we are too lazy now to open and close it manually everytime we want to leave the house (which averages once or twice a week--that's a lot of opening and closing...)

Tim electricalized our hot tub and is almost done making it all work and look professional! He's so smart! :) I can only imagine the electricution that would take place if I wired that bad boy! Can't wait to get in it this fall! How delicious! Come visit me and you can play too!

We are debating on whether to screen in our basement porch or not. Any thoughts? I will take some pics of it and leave the posts open for ideas...for the all ONE of you who reads this or actually posts :) (HINT, PUH-LEASE POST!)

Oh, and as for the Jo-Ann fabric purchases, well, I made a Cooper bed (pics to come later, as Tim is stealing some foam from work to stuff the bed with--nothing but top class for that pooch) and two pillows for our couch. I have some left over fabric from the pillows....thinking of making a table runner....oh the excitement....i can feel it!

The other pillows on the couch I made as well, but I made those when I was in nursing school and living at the in-laws. The picture doesn't really show them well, but that's the best I can do.

I'm really looking forward to painting our house! I don't know what room to start with! I hope to do a room every couple of months or so until I get it all done.

F those F'ing Test F'ers!

Damn Tests!

I am taking my boards soon and it is getting down to the wire. I'm a complete stress ball but I hear that is normal. I will keep you all informed of my passings or (gulp) my failings. I just took a practice test that one of my firneds let me do with her account to a prep class she took. I got a 59%...before you panic as I did, it turns out that that is about where I should be! They say getting a 65% means that you will pass with flying colors. So my colors may not be flying, but they might be floating just past the passing level. I'm okay with that. Of course, unfortunately, this will not ease my nerves. I will probably be a "wonderfully" fun person to live with this next week. Thankfully, my friend Kelly will be visiting me this weekend! Perfect timing! I have to wait 3-7 days to find out how i did on the boards. I will pay the freak'n 8 dollars they charge you to find out earl--otherwise you could wait up to 2 or 3 weeks. No thanks. I'll pay those F'ers. What's 8 more dollars after a 35K tuition? Ha!

Anyway, these tests are a real trip. They each have several correct answers or a trick hidden in the question. A trick that is easy to overlook or misread. And when I say several correct, i mean really only one correct but there are other correct answers...but one is the BEST! They are a real mind-F*$#! So, I have been trying to do 100-200 questions a day for the past few weeks. Afterwards my brain feels numb and I feel like I've been holding my breathe for hours when I finish.

Okay, well, here's to my 58% and the glass of wine I shall now enjoy...I earned it damn it! (um, wait...Is that the reasoning of an alcoholic? hee hee!?) i guess that's not really funny. anyway(s)...

a PONY!

So, I was just hanging some curtains (the very first curtains I've ever made!) and I looked out

my window and this is what I saw! Crazy! There's a farm at the front of our addition with horses and obviously this little pony friend! And they were taking a nice leisurely trot around the neighborhood! I have got to make friends with this family! I want to play with thier horses and ponies! I told you it's a little country out here! ha!

PIckles and Cheese Doodles

Here are some delightful updated pics of the bean that my sister took last weekend. I can't believe how big she is getting! I was just looking at baby pics of her and comparing them to the new ones! Everyone always says they grow up so fast...I can't believe how true that is! It honestly seems like a few months ago that she was teeny tiny! I love this age, though! She is a riot! She is in to looking under our furniture looking for the kitty cat (we have no cat). She does this at my mom and dad's house looking for their real cat with her cousins, and since we've gotten home she is always looking under beds and couches and meowing her special meow sound (that sounds nothing like a meow) and pointing underneath things--it sounds more like a fake fart sound according to my sister! ha! She is also in to pretending she is talking on her play phone. She holds it up to her ear and walks around the house babbling urgently and says "yeah, yeah...yeah!" over and over! Then when I ask who she is talking to she says "da da"! ha! too cute!

Deerest Target

This morning I had to take Tim to work and as I was driving Angels passed...five of them...in a ROW! Target trucks! It was glorious and I instantly wanted to go targeting! I could only imagine the sales I was going to miss since they were going to have to make room for the new glorious items. I could potentially devote this whole blog to Target. But then I would lose all my ONE readers...actually, nevermind. SHe likes Target just as much as me. She would remain loyal. I guess there is always onlind Target shopping but it is not the same. Not at all! Target is great because of the whole experience! The atmosphere.

I haven't been Targeting in WEEKS since we moved here...40 minutes away from a Target. While it is probably the best thing we live so far away it is a true tragedy for myself and for Target. I WAS their number one customer. Now I settle as their number one FAN. At least until I start my job in August and can afford to take long trips to and in Target.

So, did any of you hear about the deer that wondered into Target in Iowa? Smart deer. See, no one can resist the beauty that can be found there. The endless rows and shelves and racks of treasures! Look how cute he is! It makes my heart tickle just imagining it! I can't imaging being there, at Target and then seeing a deer! It's exciting to see a deer from the road but IN Target? That would be amazing! That would go down in history as my favorite day ever if I was there.

I've considered writing to target to ask them to bring a target near me...but as I was discussing this brilliant idea of a letter a week with my husband, he brought up the point that they probably require a certain "demographic" and a certain"population" size. Shit. He said we were more likely to get a Walmart. F walmart, I say. I will shop there if we get one BUT F it just the same. We have a Biggs here and that's really the only place to shop. Oh, besides a nasty K-Mart that hasn't been updated in YEARS! I swear! Why does Biggs suck? Because it's not Target. They sell everything you could need but the beauty is missing, the clothes suck (though they do have some random Target items!) they play music for God's sake (while I prefer Target silence)...They have merely one row of home goods, and well the list could go on but i'll stop there.

Anyway, maybe I will consider writing the letters anyway...Maybe they will send me a gift card or even just a letter would be great. Gift card would be best. A store would be best, really, but like I said, I would settle for a letter telling me they value my dedication to them and their glorious store.
