ok ok ok!

So, I was going to try to wait until I could post some pics, but I suppose that will have to wait.
Unfortunately there isn't a whole lot that is new. I started the weekend plan and I'm loving it. Getting time to catch up with family and old friends----it's been great!

Al and I had a short visit to the Fort last week and when we came home she walked into her bedroom and said, "get this crib out of my room!...it's for baby!" Tim and I almost cried. She is a full adult now, in our minds...she needs us even less. She now sleeps in her 'big girl' bed full time. I'm proud (i must be doing something right) but the ol' heart breaks when I think about it. She'll never be a baby AGAIN!

Also, I've discovered she loves country! A friend made a county cd for me and she is hooked! She seems to like the 'twangiest' songs on it. There is one that she literally acts out the words--having to do with putting suntan lotion on and this and that (you know how country music is a 'bit' cheesey) and she will say, "this is my favorite song in the whole wide world, mama!" [side note: i seem to have, uh, somewhere along the way acquired a taste for CERTAIN country songs...who knew such a thing would ever happen?]....

---also, it should be noted that last night as I was reading a book [The hidden diary of Marie Antoinette---really good] I really came to realize how much I abuse comma usage. I apologize---it's just that I really love commas.

Tim and I went mountain biking yesterday for our 'date night' and then to buffalo wild wings. Great date night! except my butt feels so bruised (from mountain biking---NOT dinner just to clarify) I can barely sit down! I only almost wiped out a bazillion times! ha! We went on some new trails that Tim heard about that biker enthusiasts built not too long ago (they are friends of one of his coworker's). While on it we met the actual trail creators! They were SUPER hard core bikers but super nice. Everyone we met on the trails was so nice it was crazy! It was like we left the real world and entered some really friendly fictitious world in the woods. Bizarre.

We are watching Lars and The Real Girl for the second time tonight. Such a cute, strange, funny, touching movie.

Well, that's all I have for now. I will post pics soon.
HOping for pool weather tomorrow! Fingers crossed!....and toes!

So glad you posted! I was wondering how you were all doing. So proud of Alex going into the big girl bed! She is getting big. She looked so cute at Chucki E Cheese the other day too. She walked in like she owned the place....and it was her first time there ever. You can tell she will be a fan.

Glad you had an awesome date night. We watched a kinda cute movie called Chaos Theory tonight. Better than most movies we have seen recently. Lars is a kick ass movie.

I am still feeling like crap but getting better. Hope to visit you soon.

I rented that Lar movie the other day. It was great. Weird but Great!
I havent started up on any of your book recommendations (i like a good book on vacation but not just to pick up... i get to addicted to my characters and cant do anything else) But i have to say all your movie recommendations have been right on! Very nice!

Oh, and a story. What a small world. A gal that does my hair, (Millie) ... well she and i have become very close and she is getting marrierd so i was at her couples shower the other day and instantly knew a familiar face from IU. It was her soon to be sister in law. And she was really good friends with Erin Hart from our floor freshman year. Her name is Emily Swan. Anyway, i have the worst memory, but as soon as I saw her I just knew I had seen her before on Foster Martin.... She remembered us, but we agreed so many new faces came into our lives that year, that it is hard to place them. She became a tri-delt and now is nurse in indy at methodist.
anyway, small world, i hope that made sense.

Big girl beds rock! Happy pooling!!

Hi Melissa,

I think it might be illegal for a male to leave a comment here but, I don't think I have your email. Just had to tell you to rent "into the wild" if you have not had the pleasure of watching it yet. I also thought about connecting a sore butt to other aspects of date night but thought it would be extremely innappropriate. Take care.

Now that Alex is getting older maybe she will be able to rationalize that I am not a monster but a gentle giant.

Glad you're back! My mom just asked me today why you haven't been posting lately. I have limited time, as I am at the library again. I hope you feel better soon, Marla! and I hope you can post more pictures soon, Melissa!

Yes, a new post! Glad you were able to make it to the Fort with your new schedule, wish I could've been there. I can't believe how much Alex is changing! I know what you mean about the independence thing, Mackenzie now darts out of the room to get into anything she shouldn't be into and it makes me a little bit sad. We've got a long way to go before she is speaking in sentences, I can't imagine what will come out of that mouth:) And may I add, it's okay for Alex to like country. Will you record her singing?

Mountain biking sounds like fun, I seem to have lost Nathan's bike in the move. I would most definitely injure myself on a bike. I have a hard enough time walking on trails. Have a good holiday weekend!

too funny about commas-I am waay guilty of the same crime. I wonder if maybe we grew up together and once had a language arts teacher who instilled the same love and appreciation of commas in us?!?
