I thought of something!

So, I thought of something to blog about that doesn't involve Alex!

Today I went to the Y and while I was scoping the place out to see where I might want to settle in for my work out (that I was already looking forward to cutting short since I was late getting there and had to pick A up before nap time began---hers, not mine) and there was a man on the less crowded side and he was changing a channel on one of the TV's. There was only one other person within viewing distance of these TVs so I thought, "Yes! There will be a free one that I can change to watch something NON-ESPN. So, I asked the man who had just changed one of the TVs and it turns out he says, that he was going to watch ALL four. YES! You read that correctly. He had tuned all four of them to his liking and was quite annoyed that I had requested to change the channel on ONE. You'd have thought I requested to ride tandem on the single person bike he was gearing up to work out on. It took him several minutes to decide which one he would allow me to change and I kid you not, when I tried to give him a hard time in the most joking sort of ways, he was not having it, never even cracked a smile. Nice. So, my fellow friends, rule of the day: SHARE! It's the right thing to do, especially when you have three extras of something you only really need one of, and especially if those somethings happen to be tvs all with different variations of ESPN that all cover the same thing anyway, right?!

[If only my Y would incorporate treadmills that are equiped with their own personal TV such as the ones in the picture. But remember, people, this is Batesville, IN we are talking about. I'm grateful they have treadmills from this century :) [they're not that bad, i just kid]]

And on a working out note, don't you just hate it when someone always works into conversations the fact that they just worked out, or are going to work out, or missed their daily workout, etc...you get the point. I find it rather obnoxious and I wanted to point out that I was not trying to do that here. It was just part of the story. There is a girl at work that ALWAYS works in to convos her work out for the day or the previous day, etc. You know the type of person I'm talking about, heck maybe you are that kind of person...It could be a conversation about a patient that coded and the events leading up to it and she would add in, "So, this morning I worked out before I came to work and when I got here my patient had coded" [as if the working out part had anything to do with her patient or the patient coding] So, second moral of this post: Don't be that person! :)
This is what I envision telling my work friend most of the time when she incorporates these gym excursions into nearly all her stories :)

Oh my God. That guy was serious? What a complete ass. Seriously...I have never heard of such a thing. Were they all news channels...soap operas? What the hell?

Yup, I too hate it when people talk about working out. To me it is equal to sleeping, bathroom time or eating. I just don't care to hear about what they do to or with their body. You know?

You should have asked for TWO of the televisions (which is equitable) and then put them both on the same channel. And then said something like, "I REALLY love this show. "

As far as the "name-dropping" about past workouts, I am not that person. I don't work out. I should. I didn't know they had tv's you could watch. That's helpful information.

Hi Melissa,

I just finished my workout and though I'd comment. Just kidding...I haven't seen a gym in MONTHS! What a jerk that guy was!

All the recent pics of Alex are absolutely gorgeous. She's such a big girl now. You will be so glad someday that you have all these funny stories about Alex blogged.

I hope you get some warmer weather soon!

I went to the gym today, and i love your post. Sharing is important, i will remember that when i am at the gym for the second time today. Okay, off to the gym. heehee, hope you get what i was doing here. And as a side note, the only time I was near the gym today was when i was smoking a cig, passing it on the way to see if DQ was open. hehe

you're silly, jac! :) remember at iu when we'd go "work out" but mostly sit in the lounge area and get snacks from the vending machine! ha!

This is a very delayed comment so you may not even see it, but hilarious post! I cannot stand when people talk about their workouts, it stresses me out like I need to immediately sprint out the door and go workout too, even if I just got back from my very own workout. I lived with someone like that, it was not healthy.

And I cannot believe that guy, what a jerk! I had a guy try to pick me up at the gym last night by saying, "(throat clear) Excuse me ma'am, but we usually don't let people like you work out here, you're too fit, you make the rest of us look bad"...yada yada yada. It was strangely flattering and also super creepy and weird at the same time, especially since he was flexing every muscle he had while he talked and clearly lived at the gym. DOn't you love gym stories?
